New choices for the new year

As the year winds down and we start looking to 2003, it looks like the upcoming year will be a good one for Fayette's foodies.

Several new restaurants are slated to come to the county, which will give everybody some new choices for a dining experience.

Bugaboo Creek Steakhouse is in the permit process and wants to build near the Fayette Pavilion. The steakhouse is part of a small chain and features steaks, chops and all the wonderful sides that accompany a nice steak dinner.

The Buckhead Brewery is slated to go into a location across from the Publix on Ga. Highway 54 in Peachtree City.

The restaurant features a wide variety of wild game, along with more traditional fare such as steak and chicken.

Back in Fayetteville, Moe's Restaurant, which features a Southwestern theme, wants to build near the Pavilion, as does Ted's Montana Grill, which already has a site in Peachtree City. O'Charley's also wants to build near the huge shopping center.

Back in Peachtree City, the owner of the Famous Fish Company is creating the Meat and Mustard in the strip center on Ga. Highway 74 featuring Hangar 74.

Perhaps the most intriguing restaurant news of the new year could happen in Fayetteville's court square. For months, renovation has been progressing on an old hardware store site. Bricks have been replaced and machinery stand ready on the inside to start renovations.

Rumors have circulated that a high-end chef from Atlanta is looking at the site for his next restaurant. If that happens, expect foodies from the region to put Fayetteville on the "A" list for haute cuisine.
