Tuesday night is basketball night and only a few local teams fared well in the region matchups this past Tuesday.

Sandy Creek's boys and girls took on North Clayton and both teams won. The boys won 69-65 and Coach Maurice Triche cited the exellent fourth quarter play of Cornelius Brown as the key to the win. Brown had nine points and four steals in the fourth quarter while playing solid defense. Other scorers in double figures for the Patriots were Kevin Craig with 15 points, Kerry Atkinson with 11 points and Charles Wiliford with 10 points.

The Lady Patriots won 53-32. They bult a 21-11 lead by halftime and stretched out their lead in the second half. Mary Fields scored 14 points, shooting six for six from the foul line and three for three from the field, including two three pointers. Jennifer Jarascz added 11 points and Tiffany Paschall pulled in 13 rebounds and blocked six shots. Sandy Creek will play at Woodward tonight and then will play at Chapel Hill on Saturday.

Starr's Mill had the tough task of taking on Lovejoy on Tuesday night. The boys lost 77-57 and Mike Mock led the Panthers in scoring with 15 points. The Lady Panthers lost 57-49 in double overtime. There were several lead changes throughout regulation and Starr's Mill had a chance to win at the end of regulation but made too many turnovers. The Lady Panthers pulled ahead in the first overtime but got into foul trouble and headed into a second overtime. Lovejoy controlled the second overtime and did not allow Starr's Mill to score. Jenny Norman scored 16 points and Kelly Caulfield added 13. Starr's Mill will play at Riverdale tonight.

In other games, McIntosh's boys fell to Carer, Columbus, 77-55 despite 26 points from Sterling Williams, while the girls lost to Carver, 87-30. McIntosh will host East Coweta tonight and will travel to take on Landmark Christian on Saturday. Fayette County's girls lost to Riverdale, 68-52, while the boys lost 81-74. Fayette County will host Mundy's Mill tonight and will travel to Columbus tomorrow night to take on Carver.
