Trees, Trees everywhere

It is time to head out and buy your Christmas tree, before you get stuck with a Charlie Brownesque Christmas tree branch. There are many farms in the area where you and your loved ones can choose a tree for the holidays.

In Fayetteville are Minter's Tree Farm and John S. Smith Jr.'s farm. Minter's farm is located at 283 Hill's Bridge Rd. in Fayetteville, 770-461-2840, www.inmanfarm.com. Open from 9 a.m.-dark every day. Products include Leyland Cypress, Virginia Pine, Red Cedar and Carolina Sapphire Christmas trees.

John S. Smith, Jr.'s farm, located at 230 Davis Rd., 770-487-7474, Their hours are 9 a.m.-dark Saturday and Sunday. Visitors can choose and harvest several varieties of trees. The farm features hay rides and tree wrapping and saws are provided.

Christmas Forest, located across from the Kroger on Ga. Hwy. 85 South at 822 Glynn St. South, is open from 3-6 p.m. Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m.-6 p.m. on Sunday. Among the trees they offer are Leyland Cypress, Carolina Sapphire, Red Cedar and Virginia Pine. Phone 770-461-8850.

Ed's Christmas Trees, located at 7995 Spence Road, in Fairburn, 770-969-2142, edstrees@hotmail.com. They are open from 1-8 p.m., Monday-Friday and from 9 a.m. - 8 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. The lot is open from dusk until 8 p.m. Choose and Harvest: Leyland Cypress, Carolina Sapphire and Fraser Fir. Pre-harvested Fresh Fraser Firs are available. Saws are provided.

Frosty Hollow, 7125 Bishop Road, Fairburn, 770-964-9359. Choose & Harvest: Leyland Cypress, Virginia Pine, The farm features saws, restrooms, wrapping service, shaking service, and hayrides.

The Worthington Tree Farm, 145 Twin Oaks Dr., Hampton, 770-478-4355 or 770-954-9356. They are open from 9:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 12:30-5:30 p.m. Sunday. Choose & Harvest: Leyland Cypress, White Pine, Virginia Pine, Eastern Red Cedar. Pre-Harvested: Fraser Fir, Noble Fir. Hay rides are offered on the weekends. There is also a gift shop, a beautiful farm/rural setting, tree wrapping and saws provided.

Brown's Christmas Tree Farm, 86 Minter Drive, Hampton, 770-946-9163 email: bctf@brownstrees.com. Their hours are 12-6 p.m. Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-6 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on Sunday. Trees at the farm include Leyland Cypress, Virginia Pine, Eastern Red cedar. Hayrides will be offered on weekends only. Tapered pin tree stands for sale along with tree removal bags and wreaths. A choose-and-cut-your-own operation. Tree shaking, netting, tapered hole boring, and saws are furnished for free. Budget priced trees available. All trees are individually tagged with the height and total price including sales tax.

Fourakre Christmas Tree Farm, 13887 Woolsey Rd., Hampton, 770-946-9112, Their hours are 12-6 p.m. Monday-Friday, and 8 a.m.-6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Choose & Harvest: Leyland Cypress, Virginia Pine, Cedar, Pre-Harvested: Fraser Fir, Noble Fir Features: Fresh hand-made wreaths, Santa Shop with special Items, tree wrapping, beautiful farm rural setting, saws provided.

Homestead Christmas Tree, 3850 Hwy. 81, Hampton, 770-707-0854, jim@christmastreehome.com. Open daily from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Choose & Harvest: Carolina Sapphire, Leyland Cypress, Red Cedar, Virginia Pine. The farm also features tree stands and fresh wreaths, saws, restrooms, wrapping service, shaking service and cutting service.

The Spirit of Christmas Tree Farm, located at 8070 Campbellton Redwine Rd. in Palmetto, has many trees to choose from. There are also hot chocolate and cookies provided and kids can feed rabbits and ducks. There will also be marshmallow roasts on weekends. Their hours are noon-dark on Friday, 10 a.m.-dark on Saturday and noon to dark on Sunday. Phone 770-463-4104.
