The East Coweta Indians (7-5) are still alive in the Class AAAAA state football playoffs.

After upsetting Coffee in the first round of the playoffs, the Indians blasted Warner Robins 42-21 last Friday night to reach the state quarterfinals. The two teams were deadlocked at 14 in the second quarter but the Indian defense made a key stop and the offense took over and left Warner Robins in the dust.

Quarterback Lee Heaberlin passed for 147 yards in the win and Marquice Maynard caught eight passes for 92 yards. Derek White gave the team a hige boost with three rushing touchdowns.

The Indians' 42 points was the most they had scored all season and they enter this Friday's game against the Harrison Hoyas (12-0) apparently clicking on all cylinders.

They will need to continue playing perfect football as Harrison is one of the more dominant teams in the state. They are ranked number two in Class AAAAA, gave up only 46 points during the regular season and posted five shutouts.

East Coweta has won four games in a row and as improved a 1-4 away record to 3-4 with two road wins in the first two rounds of the playoffs. Tonight, they could reach 4-4 with a win.

A win would put them in the semifinals in the Georgia Dome against the winner of Northside, Warner Robins and Parkview. The Indians started the season in the Georgia Dome with a 21-0 loss to Parkview, though the game was closer than the score would indicate.

Tonight's game will be played at Harrison in Kennesaw at 7:30 p.m.
