Registration now open for annual Jingle Bell Trail The children, parents and faculty of Peachtree City Elementary School are making a list and checking it twice as they prepare for the sixth annual Jingle Bell Trail, Fayette County School's one and only fun run set for Dec. 14. Organizers expect more than 1,000 kids and adults to come to the school, strap jingle bells on their shoes and dah down the city's famous golf cart paths in either the 5K run or the one-mile run/walk. The event is designed to boost community spirit, promote wellness and raise money for the school's 400-plus student's media center and technology program. Last year's run had over 1,000 participants, ranging in age from 3 to 69. The race generated nearly $13,000, which helped purchase new classroom equipment. Applicatons for the race are available in the school;s front office and will be distributed soon at locations throughout Fayette County. The fee is $13 before Dec. 2 and $20 after that date. Applications will be accepted until the morning of the race. The top three male and female winners in each age bracket of the fun run will receive special awards. All participants will receive a distinctive 2002 race shirt and runners and walkers will enjoy free post-race refreshments, including fresh fruit and water. The 5K will begin in front of the school at 9 a.m. and the one mile run/walk will start 10 minutes later. Particpants are urged to arrive at the school at least 45 minutes early to allow time to park, as well as to lace on the jingle bells.
