Saint Gabriel's will offer midnight Mass Dec. 24

Members of the Catholic Church of St. Gabriel in Fayetteville will join Catholics around the world as they celebrate the birth of Christ with midnight Mass on Christmas Eve.

Father Jimmy Adams will be the principal celebrant as midnight Mass is celebrated with music from the adult choir under the direction of Sheri Dillon. The congregation will be invited to join the choir in a variety of carols beginning at 11:30 p.m.

St. Gabriel's also will have a Christmas Vigil Mass at 8 p.m. and again on Christmas morning at 10:30 a.m. Fr. Adams will preside at each liturgy and will be assisted by the parish deacons.

The vigil Mass will feature the life teen band, Gabriel's Voice, which also will lead the congregation in carols beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Soloist Andrea Caldwell, accompanied by JoAnn Nieves, will provide music for the Christmas Morning Mass.

An Advent Penance service will be held Monday, Dec. 16, at 7 p.m. where Catholics will prepare for Christmas both as a a group and with individual confession. Priests from around the Archdiocese will be available to assist Fr. Adams during this time of preparation. Private confessions also will be available on Saturday at 4 p.m. or by appointment.
