Is F'ville Council about to OK overcrowding?

After attending several city council meetings regarding the development of major Southside properties of Fayetteville between Ga. highways 92 and 85, I was shocked to see what is about to happen to our community.

It appears that when Fayetteville City Council decides to vote, our community will be greatly affected by the commercial development and building of higher density homes. This is all slated to happen soon. There are seemingly greedy developers and property owners who will make a tremendous profit at the community's expense.

We, the citizens of Fayetteville and Fayette County, have contributed toward the value of these properties because of our efforts to make this such a desirable place for our families to live. The community deserves to profit from this great upheaval.

We need land for schools and parks. We want to preserve the green space. We want family neighborhoods comparable to the existing neighborhoods. We need traffic lights to get out of our subdivisions.

We do NOT need more grocery stores. We do NOT want more traffic. We do NOT want overcrowded schools. We do NOT want to sell our homes and move because Fayetteville is no longer a desirable family community to live in.

Mayor Steele and Fayetteville City Council, listen to the community. Please explain to us what is going on.

Sammie Clark

Fayette County
