Georgia Community College director Jim Price spoke to the Fayette Metro Kiwanis Club about the community college that opened two years ago in Union City as an outreach program of Georgia Military College.

Convenient for any work schedule, it is open in the daytime, evening and weekends. Its motto is "Eliminating the traditional excuses for not getting a college degree."

Price said that entrance requires a high school diploma or GED and Georgia residents attending full-time pay $431 for tuition for the past fall quarter. Students qualifying for the HOPE Scholarship attend tuition-free. The school's courses will transfer to a four-year college.

Price was a member of the Kiwanis for many years and served as a past lieutenant governor in Georgia for the charitable organization.

For more information on the college, contact Price at 770-306-6403 or jprice@gmc.cc.ga.us.
