McIntosh senior is Georgia's Heisman finalist

Serving as a role model for young people by demonstrating his ability to balance academics, athletics, and community service, Mclntosh High School senior Robert Huefner has been selected as one of 12 national finalists of the 2002 Wendy's High School Heisman Program.

This year more than 13,500 students were nominated for the Wendy's High School Heisman. From this group, 1,020 state award finalists were selected.

From the 1,020 state finalists, the field is narrowed to 102 state award winners, one male and one female from each state. Huefner received a silver medal in recognition of his selection as Georgia's male Wendy's High School Heisman State Award winner. From the state award winners, the national judging panel selected just 12 national finalists six males and six females.

These 12 national finalists will be traveling to New York City to attend a special ceremony at the Yale Club next month. Amidst all the festivities of Heisman weekend one young woman and one young man will be named Wendy's High School Heisman Award winners.

Huefner will be receiving a gold medal for being a national finalist from the only two-time Heisman Trophy winner, Archie Griffin in New York City.
