Two teams wrap up regular season tonight

This is the final week of the regular season and only two teams have games scheduled for this Friday. Sandy Creek will travel to Newnan to take on the Northgate Vikings, while Landmark Christian will host the Mt. Zion, Carroll Eagles.

Sandy Creek (6-3) has clinched the third seed in region 4-AAAA and will be on the road when the state playoffs start next week. The Patriots had won three games in a row before losing to Pebblebrook by a point last week. Sandy Creek's Phillip Hyde has given the team an amazing season by rushing for over 1,000 yards. In last week's loss, Hyde had close to 270 yards rushing and two touchdowns. Northgate (3-6) has lost two games in a row, to Lithia Springs and Douglas County respectively. Their wins this year have come against Chapel Hill, Alexander and Forest park and in their wins they have outscored their opponents 78-41.

Sandy Creek mut use this game as a tuneup for what is sure to be a tough game next week. Their offense has been clicking but they must continue scoring. Pebblebrook rallied against Sandy Creek in the fourth quarter last week and edged the Patriots out for the win. Expect that letdown to motivate the team to stay hungry against Northgate.

Landmark Christian (9-0) is a win away from a perfect regular season and their opponent tonight, Mt. Zion Carroll (3-6) should not present too many problems for the War Eagles. Landmark has outscored their opponents 408-109 this season and has only allowed 19 points in their last three games. The War Eagle offense is very deep and talented and has been scoring almost at will lately. Mt. Zion, Carroll has socred over 30 points per game in their wins, but those wins came against Our Lady of Mercy, Whitefield Academy and Walker. The War eagles should roll tonight and get ready for next week's home game to open the state playoffs.
