Seniors get Thanksgiving dinners at centers

Senior citizens can enjoy turkey and all the trimmings in pre-Thanksgiving luncheons at Fulton County's north, central and south senior activity facilities in November.

The meals celebrate the holiday and illustrate the senior nutrition program conducted throughout the year by the Fulton County Human Services Department's Office of Aging.

This is the only chance many seniors will get to have a healthy holiday meal. The Thanksgiving lunch, which costs $3, will be held as follows:

Tuesday, November 19 at H.J.C. Bowden Senior Multipurpose Facility, 2885 Church Street, East Point, noon-1:30 p.m. Call 404-762-4821.

Thursday, November 21 at Harriett G. Darnell Senior Multipurpose Facility, 677 Fairburn Road, NW, Atlanta. Food baskets collected by facility participants will be given to needy families, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Call 404-699-8580.

Large numbers of Fulton County's 150,000 seniors show up daily at each site to enjoy delicious, low-cost breakfasts and lunches, and participate in a variety of activities and services that benefit them physically, mentally and socially.

The county also delivers meals to the homes of seniors who cannot travel. For details, call the numbers listed above.
