South Fulton Human Services Day set Saturday, November 16

Showcasing services that help improve people's lives

District 7 Commissioner William (Bill) Edwards will host the Human Services Day, Saturday, November 16, 2002 at the South Fulton Service Center in College Park.

Area residents will get a close look at programs for seniors and youth, people with disabilities, the homeless, job-seekers, and community action partnerships all administered by the Fulton County Human Services Department.

The 11 a.m.-2 p.m. event at 5600 Stonewall Tell Road will feature exhibits, refreshments and family activities.

"This is a great opportunity for citizens in need of assistance and for people looking to help others," said Commissioner Edwards. "Many times, citizens are looking for services that are right here in South Fulton. The challenge is making sure everybody knows where to go and who to call for these services."

Representatives will provide information on the Department's six divisions:

· Aging Oversees senior programs and services at 19 sites throughout Fulton.

· Children and Youth Directs mentoring programs and grants.

· Disability Affairs Monitors accessibility compliance and services.

· Workforce Development Coordinates job training and placement.

· Emergency and Transitional Housing Operates programs for the homeless.

· Planning and Community Partnerships Coordinates resources strategy for effective service delivery.
