"Bonnie Blue" comes to Tara Museum By CAROLYN
CARY
"Bonnie Blue" is coming to Jonesboro to participate in festivities for Margaret Mitchell's 102nd birthday celebration. Cammie King, one of a dozen cast members in "Gone With The Wind" still living, will be a featured guest at The Road To Tara Museum in Jonesboro. King was five years old when she played Bonnie Blue Butler, the headstrong daughter of Rhett Butler and Scarlett O'Hara. Her parents' roles were played by Clark Gable, who was born in Cadiz, Ohio, and Vivien Leigh, who was born in India and reared in England. Oddly enough, Gable was the only one of the main leads who was born in the United States. Olivia DeHaviland was born in Tokyo, and Leslie Howard was born in England. Among the events taking place on Friday, Nov. 8 is an open house at The Tara Museum. There will be no admission fee, this day only, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. King will be on hand at 10 a.m. to sign autographs and unveil the museum's latest exhibit. On Saturday, Nov. 9, King will have an encore appearance from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Also taking place on Saturday, the Georgia International Convention Center on Sullivan Avenue, will be the site of a "Gone With The Wind" collectors swap meet, from noon until 2 p.m. At 2 p.m., a $25 ticket will allow you to participate in a high tea service, a program by "Bonnie Blue", a commemorative autographed souvenir, a silent auction and the opportunity to buy items from the "Gone With The Wind" store. Tickets for this special engagement are limited and it is suggested you call 770-478-4800 to reserve a ticket. The high tea will take place at the Georgia International Convention Center, 1902 Sullivan Road, College Park. The Road To Tara Museum is located in the Jonesboro Depot Welcome Center in the center of town. Its Web site can be visited at www.visitscarlett.com.
