Beautify your yard this fall

Are you feeling frisky now that the weather is changing and autumn is upon us? Does the lure of the great outdoors beckon you to come out and work the earth and create something beautiful in your yard? Fall classes are underway at the Extension Service and meet on Tuesday nights at 7 p.m. from October through December.

Learn how to keep your lawn looking lush, how to pack a punch with color by selected plantings for winter temperatures and then pruning techniques during these seasons. Find out how to invite wildlife to your yard and ways in which you can experience the graceful beauty of ornamental grasses swaying in the breezes. If youve always envied yards with vibrantly colored trees this time of year, take the fall tree planting class and be the envy of your neighbors next year when your newly planted trees are blazing with fall colors. Then after the leaves have fallen, take the backyard composting class and learn how to turn those leaves into "black gold" (or compost) and feed your new fall plantings with rich nutrients from the earth.

Classes are held in Room 209A at the Administrative Office Complex in Fayetteville and are free of charge. To register, call the Extension Service at 770/460-5730, ext. 5412.
