Halloween takes place this week, which means that Christmas is right around the corner. Old Town Sharpsburg is kicking off the holiday season this weekend with their 18th annual Christmas Open House.

Festivities begin on Friday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. as all of the shops in Old Town Sharpsburg will serve refreshments. Saturday's activities will run from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. and will be highlighted by Santa's arrival at 4 p.m. and the Lighting of Sharpsburg at 6 p.m. Visitors are asked to bring their own cameras for taking pictures of their little ones with Jolly old St. Nick. The weekend's events will conclude on Sunday from 1-5 p.m with carolers from many local churches and organizations singing in the streets.

Though the weather may not feel like Christmas and many people may still have pumpkins on their porches, the community will come together to start the holiday season on the right foot.
