Atlanta Ballet to present two ballets at The Fox By MICHAEL
BOYLAN
Looking for a ballet bargain? The Atlanta Ballet will present two ballets for the price of one when they present "Ramblin' Suite" and "Carmen," Thursday, Oct. 31 - Sunday, Nov. 3 at the Fox Theatre. "Ramblin' Suite" will feature a live performance by the North Carolina String Band known as the Red Clay Ramblers. The band plays a mixture of Dixieland, bluegrass, country, rock and gospel. They have been together for 30 years and have won a Tony award. The Atlanta Ballet will perform the "Ramblin' Suite," which was choreographed by Diane Coburn-Bruning, who has produced over 30 ballets in 16 years. "Carmen" is the classic ballet set to the music of Georges Bizet. Carmen is a seductive gypsy who weaves a love triangle between herself and two men, Don Jose and Escamillo. The ballet features a Spanish influence in music, dance and style. The ballet caused a stir when it was first released in 1875 but continues to be looked at as one of the first contemporary ballets of its time and a ballet that changed the art forever. Showtimes for "Ramblin' Suite" and "Carmen" are 7:30 p.m. Thursday, 8 p.m. Friday, 2 and 8 p.m. on Saturday and 2 and 7 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets for "Ramblin' Suite" and "Carmen" are $20-$60 and are available at the Fox Theatre box office, at any Ticketmaster outlet or by calling 404-817-8700. Tickets can also be purchased on-line at www.ticketmaster.com or www.atlantaballet.com.
