McIntosh and Sandy Creek volleyball teams advance to Elite Eight of state tournament By MICHAEL

McIntosh and Sandy Creek's volleyball teams are still in the hunt for a state title. Both teams advanced to the elite 8 but geting there wasn't easy. McIntosh started their state playoff run with a 15-13, 15-3 win over Evans. The Lady Chiefs then fell to the losers bracket after a 8-15, 11-15 loss to Shiloh. McIntosh rebounded with a 15-11, 15-6 win over Sequoyah and fell to the fourth seed after a 6-15, 6-15 loss to Harrison. The Lady Chiefs will face Parkview at Parkview High School at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. If they win they will take on the winner of the Shiloh/Lassiter match at noon. Sandy Creek opened the state tournament with a 3-15, 4-15 loss to Marist but bounced back in the losers bracket with wins over Chamblee, 15-4, 15-4 and Dalton, 15-7, 11-15, 15-13. The Lady Patriots will face Woodward Academy at Woodward Academy on Saturday at 9 a.m. If Sandy Creek wins they will take on the winner of the Greenbrier/Ridgeland match at noon.
