McIntosh's boys and girls cross country teams win more region championships

The McIntosh boys and girls cross country teams captured another region championship Saturday. Racing at Clayton County international Park, the Chiefs and Lady Chiefs defeated teams from Starr's Mill, which placed second, and Fayette County, which placed fourth, among others.

The top five runners for McIntosh's girls were Eric Hughey, third, 22:20; Allison Fratto, 22:46; Brittlynn Hall, eighth, 22:55; Melissa Anderson, ninth, 23:01 and Kelly Myers, 10, 23:01. The top five for the boys were Thomas Turner, first, 17:14; Ben Brantly, second, 17:19; Alberto Jensen, fifth, 17:49; Ian Hardy, eighth, 18:12 and John Powers, ninth, 18:15.

Starr's Mill's top five girls were Kristin Horton, first, 21:27; Katie Holmes, fifth, 22:39. Jessi Cort, 11, 23:18; Katy Underwood, 14, 23:51 and Ashley Hyatt, 21, 24:48. The top five for the boys were Bradley Morris, third, 17:37; Daniel Shankle, sixth, 17:50; Sankar Sridaran, 10, 18:28; David Woods, 11, 18:28 and Kentavious Wilson, 12, 18:30.

Fayette County's top five girls were Claire Bergstrom, second, 22:01; Taylor Barnes, 17, 24:07; Michelle Bangsboll, 26, 25:47; Haleigh Breest, 27, 26:02; and Allison Nelms, 28, 26:03. The top five boys were Blake Alverson, fourth, 17:44; David Dalton, 13, 18:31; Ryan Wolfe, 19, 18:48; Nathaniel Foster, 23, 19:09 and Andrew Killmeyer, 30, 19:39.

The Class AAAAA sectional meet will take place at Gainesville College this Saturday, along with the Class A sectionals. Sandy Creek High School will be the site of the Class AAAA sectional meet.
