Teams head to state volleyball tournaments

McIntosh's Lady Chief volleyball team won the area 4-AAAAA championship on Tuesday night by defeating East Coweta in four sets, 15-11, 15-8, 14-16, 15-4. Sandy Creek came in second in the area 4-AAAA championship by losing to Troup County in four sets, 15-17, 7-15, 15-14, 6-15. All four teams have qualified for the state tournament, which begins tomorrow at locations throughot the state. McIntosh will face Evans at 10 a.m. at Marietta High School. If the Lady Chiefs win they will face the winner of the Jonesboro/Shiloh matc at 11 a.m. East Coweta will play at Sequoyah High School. They will start with a match against Lakeside, DeKalb at 9 a.m. If the Lady Indians win they will take on the winner of Parkview/Eagle's Landing. Sandy Creek will play at St. Pius. They will meet Marist at 10 a.m. If the Lady Patriots win they will face the winner of the Chapel Hill/Chamblee match. Landmark Christian is also in the state tournament, competing in the A/AA bracket. The Lady War Eagles will take on Blessed Trinity at Darlington High School at 10 a.m. If they win that match, Landmark Christian will meet the winner of Savannah Country Day and Prince Avenue.
