Noel November on the way

Kind of like a song that brings back fond memories of the joys of Christmas, Noel November is coming to town again for the eighth year in a row. This Celebration of Trees and Wreaths is the Fayette County Board of Realtors' premiere event and delights attendees of all ages with a winter wonderland of favored theme trees, wreaths, mantle arrangements, decorations and Christmas collectibles. The charity event will be held Saturday, Nov. 16, at the Barn in Tyrone.

It is a day-long celebration which begins with an open house from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. where families can stroll the wintry path through the trees and wreaths admiring the handiwork of local citizens, companies and organizations who've donated their creations to the event. A new addition to the day will be Santa's Christmas Shoppe where an array of holiday collectibles can be found and purchased before the evening auction. Also on hand are the local choral groups from around the county, holiday children's crafts and photos with Santa.

Festivities culminate with a live auction beginning at 7 p.m. when the lights are dimmed and the bidding begins. The beautifully decorated and donated items are then sold one at a time to the highest bidder. The excitement is great as the crowd cheers on the bidders. It's an opportunity to also enjoy good food, donated by area restaurants and grocers, as well as purchase that one of a kind Christmas decoration. Hundreds of area residents enjoy this event each year.

Noel November is an annual highlight of the holiday season in our community, and it's also provided needed funds for worthy local organizations. This year's net proceeds will benefit the Fayette Youth Protection Home, Fayette County Schools Mentoring Program, Fayette County Special Olympics and the Bedford School. In years past, thousands of dollars have been donated to county organizations from this event.

The Fayette County Board of Realtors is one of more than 1,800 local boards and associations of Realtors that comprise the National Association of Realtors. As the nation's largest trade organization, the national organization is "The Voice for Real Estate," representing nearly 750,000 members involved in all aspects of the real estate industry.
