Dedication ceremony Oct. 13 for Minter school

Community invited to participate

One of Fayette's newest elementary schools, and the only one in the county to be named after a local teacher, is asking the community to help honor its namesake at the school's upcoming dedication ceremony.

The faculty and administration of Sara Harp Minter would like to invite former students, colleagues and administrators who knew Minter to share their fondest memories of her to be included in a memory book. A copy of the book will be presented to the Minter family and one will be kept at Sara Harp Minter so that the school's community can learn more about the respected educator for which the school is named.

Anyone who would like to submit their memories for the book can do so on an 8 1/2 X 11 sheet of paper which can be mailed or dropped off at the school's front office during school hours. The school's address is 1650 Ga. Highway 85 South, Fayetteville, GA 30215.

The school is also searching for photographs, annuals and other memorabilia with Minter in them to be displayed at the dedication scheduled for Oct. 13 from 2-4 p.m. All items will be returned after the ceremony. Items can be taken directly to the school and should be labeled with the lender's first and last name and contact information. Written memories and memorabilia can be submitted to the school until Oct. 11.
