Best Buy opens this Friday

Put on the party music and turn up the volume, Best Buy, North America's leading specialty retailer of digital technology and entertainment products, is ready to open its doors to Fayetteville-area shoppers. Best Buy will celebrate its grand opening in Fayetteville, Ga., at 10 a.m. Oct. 11. The new store located at, 128 Pavilion Pkwy, features a new store design highlighting techno-tainment.

"Best Buy is excited to turn on the fun for Fayetteville shoppers by providing the area with affordable, high-tech consumer electronics and entertainment products," said Eddie Whaley, manager at Best Buy.

"Our shopping atmosphere is easy and fun because our non-commissioned sales staff is committed to helping shoppers find the products and services to improve their lives."

The Fayetteville store incorporates the most recent Best Buy store redesign. Features of the new design include customers flowing through a single-line checkout, wider aisles for better traffic flow, and a transaction center to help with complex purchases.

The 45,000 square-foot store features a large selection of name-brand consumer electronics, personal computers, software and appliances.

Shoppers can test fully-functioning display products throughout the store, allowing them to "try before they buy". Making shopping even easier, merchandise is grouped in departments such as Entertainment Software; Digital Cameras and Camcorders; and Wireless and Satellite Systems.

The store also features:

An entertainment software area with more than 15,000 CDs, 425 VHS movies, 1,000 computer software titles and 3,400 DVD movies;

Demonstration areas to sample music CDs, DVD movies, computer software and video games;

A "Boom Room" for listening to the latest in car audio systems;

The latest in Wireless, Digital Television and Home Theater technology;

BestBuy.com Web stations as a research tool, offering expanded selection and convenience of purchasing a product online with the choice of home delivery or in-store pick-up;

Professional in-store technicians to handle PC setups, upgrades, repairs, and peripheral in stallations;

Dependable delivery and installation scheduling for major appliances and home theater;

A mobile installation area, staffed with licensed technicians, to install a full range of audio, video, wireless and navigational devices in automobiles.

Best Buy has hired approximately 150 full- and part-time employees to staff the new store in cashier, customer service, non-commissioned sales and management positions.

This will be the first store in Fayetteville and the 16th Best Buy store in Georgia.

The Fayetteville store is one of approximately 67 new retail locations Best Buy will open across the country in 2002.

Dedicated to being a true "good neighbor", Best Buy works with a number of nonprofit organizations that can link Best Buy support and resources to communities where Best Buy stores are located.

Children and families in Fayetteville are now eligible to be involved in a number of Best Buy/nonprofit relationships, including those with the United Way, Junior Achievement and Toys for Tots.
