U-Night 17 offers young Christians music, sports and fellowship

This is going to be a full weekend for fans of Contemporary Christian music, fellowship and fun. U-Night 17, a four-day music festival and two days of co-ed sports competitions for scholarship money, will take place at venues in Peachtree City and Tyrone.

The concerts will start Thursday night at the Frederick Brown Jr. Amphitheater with performances by Bebo Norman, Mercy Me and Anavox, while Apologetix, Downhere, Nicole C. Mullen and Jason Eskridge take the stage Friday night. Saturday's concert will feature SonicFlood, Andrew Peterson and Forty Days and Sunday will feature According to John, FFH and By The Tree.

The gates open at 5 p.m., concerts begin at 6 p.m. and should conclude by 11 p.m. Tickets are $12 in advance, $17 at the door or $40 for a four-day pass.

There will also be concerts at Laird Farm where fans are encouraged to camp. The fee for camping is $5. There will also be a Midnight Cafe offered at Laird Farm Thursday through Saturday from midnight to 3 a.m., where there will be music and fellowship and warm beverages and pastries will be served.

Performing Thursday night will be Crystal Hiatt, Casey page and Like Isaiah, while Billy Boughey, Katrina Walker and Jason Eskridge will perform on Friday. Closing out the Midnight Cafe on Saturday will be Jennifer Trail, Melissa Graham and Jessica Gore.

Laird Farm will also host concerts and sporting events on Saturday and Sunday before the evening concerts at the Amphitheater. The concerts will start at 9 a.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. on Sunday. Saturday's lineup will be Local story, Riverside Drive, C4, Like Isaiah, Ill harmonies, Buck, Moxie Davis, Waterproof Feet, Tim Bach and Refuge and The Waiting. Sunday's lineup will be Gerald Malloy Band, Beyond This Point, Cafe' Winner, Anavox, Lincoln Brewster, Overflow, Clay Covered Souls, Jubal's Kin and Smalltown Poets.

The sporting events at Laird Farm will be a seven-person ultimate frisbee tournament with a minimum of two girls per team, a five-person volleyball tournament with a minimum of two girls per team, a five-person rock climbing challenge with a minimum of two girls per team, a three-on-three basketball tournament with a minimum of one girl per team, and a halfpipe skateboarding and rollerblade challenge. There will be a canoe challenge beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday at Lake Kedron in Peachtree City. Each member of the winning team will be awarded $500 in scholarship money.

There will be a sunrise service Sunday morning from 8-9:30 a.m. at Laird Farm. Fishing and paintball will also be available at the farm for free. Campers are asked to provide their own tents and camping gear.

To get to Laird Farm, Take Tyrone Road to Handley Road. Take a right and then another right on to Swanson Road. Go over the railroad tracks to a four way stop and Laird farm is located at the second house on the right, #382.
