PTC Flash starts cross country season off well

The PTC Flash Youth kicked off their 2002 season by competing in the Tyrone Founder's Day One Mile Fun run and 5K (3.1 Mi.) races on Saturday, Sept. 21.

Newcomers Clair Brugess and Christopher Haverley won the female and male one mile run, respectively. Also competing in the one mile were Ian Roberts, Elizabeth Jeffery, Jonathon Jeffery and Braxton Wimbush. Flash athletes also dominated the lower age groups of the 5K run, beginning with Mary Frances Roberts, age 11, securing second place overall running an awesome time of 21:30. Haley Smith took first place female in the 5-9 age group with a time of 25:48, while Baylen Garrett won the males with a time of 26:50. Shannon Philipps won the top female spot in the 10-14 category with a time of 23:10, followed by Lacey Garrett in second, 25:05, and April Esposito in third, 26:50.

The male 10-14 age group began with Vince Brown in first - and another outstanding time of 21:32. He was followed by second place, Justin Jarrell, 23:05 and third place Jonathan Garrett, 23:11. Several other Flash members ran, including Sean Wetli, 23.30; Austin Vorwald, 26:47; Matthew Donohue, 26:54; Renee Wetli, 29:34 and Wesley Smith, 29:33; Nate Jeffery, 31:03 and Katie Jeffery, 35:46.

The Flash hosted a cross country meet at Drake Field this past Saturday, which featured 166 runners from teams like Etowah, Walton Youth Track, Red Runners, Mercury and Paulding. Finishing in first place for the Flash were the 8 and Under girls, the 12 and under girls and boys and the 14 and under boys. Following are times for the PTC Flash.
