Area runners run well at LaGrange Invitational

Four Fayette County girls finished in the top 25 at Saturday's LaGrange Invitational cross-country meet, run along the scenic shores of beautiful West Point Lake. Honors for top three went to those from other counties.

Claire Bergstrom of Fayette County High School place sixth with a strong 20:26. Peachtee City's Kristina Eden, running for Landmark Christian, placed 12th with a time of 21:00. Erica Hughey of McIntosh was 22nd with a 21:36 while Hope Hurst, a Landmark Christian runner from Sharpsburg, was 23rd.

Landmark Christian and McIntosh High School boys turned in strong performances at Saturday's LaGrange Invitational Cross Country meet finishing third and second respectively among all school classes.

Blake Fertitta, a Landmark Christian runner from Fayetteville, secured fourth place with a time of 16:39. Rounding out the top five was Ben Brantly of McIntosh 16:41. Other notable Fayette resident performances were turned in by McIntosh's Thomas Turner, 16:54, seventh, Daniel Shenkle of Starr's Mill, eighth, 16:54, Bradley Morris, also of Starr's Mill, ninth with a time of 17:00 and Landmark Christian sophomore and Fayetteville resident, Will Bonn, 11th, with a time of 17:04.
