The newest and best impatiens to hit the market in years, including a two new species of impatiens, is being introduced by Ball Horticultural in its garden-friendly line of Simply Beautiful.

Long a mainstay in the American landscape, these new impatiens are extremely vigorous and will fill out a basket or container very quickly without pinching to make them bush out.

Tested in gardens, in shady spots around shrubs, and in planters of all sizes, these new impatiens have proven to be very disease resistant and hardy.

New Species: World's First Trailing Impatiens

One of the most exciting new introductions in recent years is the new Simply Beautiful Fanfare series of trailing impatiens. A gardening first, this is a new species of impatiens that actually cascades over the sides of baskets, containers, window boxes and stone walls. Available in three show stopping colors, the new varieties are Simply Beautiful Fuchsia Fanfare, Lavender Fanfare and Light Lavender Fanfare.

Broader than the standard impatiens, a 10-inch starter basket of Fanfare spreads to 16 to 20 inches wide quickly.

Fanfare Trailing Impatiens creates an impressive basket with arching impatiens encircling Aurora Coleus or Nicoletta Plectranthus accent foliage.

New Species: World's First Fancy Flowered Impatiens

The Simply Beautiful Fanciful Series is another new species making its debut this spring, has a whole extra row of petals, almost double the average impatiens. of impatiens. This super garden performer is sure to be the next "must thing" in impatiens.

The new varieties this spring are available in five colors, including Simply Beautiful Fanciful Coral, Orchid Rose, Red, Salmon, and Tropical Mix. Fanciful Fancy Flowered Impatiens grow about 10 to 12 inches and add summer-long elegance to garden beds, mixed planters, window boxes and hanging baskets.

New Fiesta Double Impatiens

For the beauty of miniature roses ­ in the shade, the Simply Beautiful Fiesta series of double impatiens has eight new flowering plants for the spring, Olé Cherry, Olé Salmon, Olé Frost and Olé Stardust Pink, and Fiesta Deep Orange, Apple Blossom, Blush, and Salmon Chiffon.

Known as the best double impatiens for the garden, Simply Beautiful Fiesta is a festival of 21 colorful varieties in rosette form. New this season are the Fiesta Double Impatiens, which grow up to 12 inches tall and provide color all summer long in baskets, flower beds, window boxes, mixed containers, and pots in shade and partial shade.
