Helping your home see the light

Using natural light effectively can transform the look of your home

Did you know that your window coverings can enhance the look of your home, not only at the window, but also by manipulating the natural light from outside? One of the hottest trends in home decor, natural light can transform the interior of any house into a stunning visual masterpiece.

Wallpaper Windows & More, a Hunter Douglas Window Fashions Gallery dealer, is one step ahead of the design curve and hosting a free "Designing With Light" seminar Oct. 23 at noon and 6 p.m. Refreshments will be served.

Presented by Donna Keeler, manager of training for leading window covering manufacturer Hunter Douglas, the seminar is based on the belief that natural light is an element of room lighting that is more dramatic and dynamic than artificial light. Consumers interested in attending the seminar should contact the store directly at 770-631-3888 by Oct. 15.

Supported by stunning photography, this exciting seminar explores the use of natural light as well as design and color trends, with a special focus on the innovative Silhouette window shadings, which feature fabric sheers with soft fabric vanes suspended between them for superior light control and diffusion.

"We are proud to offer our customers the most innovative solutions for their window covering needs, and this seminar is yet another tool provided by Hunter Douglas to help us do just that," said Cathie Smith, design consultant and blind specialist at Wallpapers Windows & More. "The seminar details the different ways in which window coverings can transform a room, and the information provided will help our customers decorate their homes and give them important information on what is happening in the world of design."

The seminar also provides information on directional light the ways that southern light differs from northern light energy efficiency and protecting interiors from the damaging effects of ultraviolet rays, which can damage fine furnishings, flooring and upholstery.

How light can be diffused, how it can interact with architecture, which window coverings are right for certain rooms, and how light can affect color are additional topics covered in this presentation.

Wallpaper Windows & More installed the Hunter Douglas Window Fashions Gallery in June to provide retailers with the tools necessary to create a thoroughly satisfying shopping experience for the consumer. A unique retail boutique, this custom-designed display environment is the largest of its kind and presents the entire Hunter Douglas product line in a user-friendly format where customers are able to view and operate the range of products available and easily select the treatments that will best complement their homes.
