Select Chorus raising money for trip to NYC

The Select Chorus of Fayette County High School is taking a trip to New York City, Feb. 26-March 2, 2003. They are having a number of fundraising events over the next few months to help defray the expenses for an educational concert tour of New York City.

The Select Chorus will have a fall concert at Sams Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 1 and will serve a pizza dinner in the FCHS commons area before the show. On Oct. 5, they will have two car washes at Kentucky Friend Chicken on Georgia Highway 85 North and Wal-mart in the Fayette Pavilion fro 10 a.m.-4 p.m. They will have car washes at those two locations on Nov. 2 as well. Other events will include a garage sale on Oct. 18, a golf tournament on Oct. 25, an all day slaes event at Barnes and Noble on Nov. 5, "Supper with Santa" at Spring Hill Elementary School on Dec. 6. and the annual "Bluegrass Blast" on Jan. 25.

The Select Chorus is also selling Chick-fil-A sandwich coupons, ads for their concert programs and singing telegrams at the high school on Feb. 13.

The New York City tour is the biggest of three trips to be taken by the Select Chorus this year. They will sing at Shorter College's "Feaste of carols" on Nov. 23 and will be the only high school choral group to perform for the Georgia Music Educators Association and Southern Division/MENC Conference. The Select Chorus is directed by Janice Folsom, wh is beginning her 26th year at FCHS. The assistant director is Kelly Butler.
