Test your car on the track at AMS

Have you ever dreamed of being Jeff Gordon for a day? Your chance is coming at Atlanta Motor Speedway's second annual open house on Saturday, Sept. 28, from 3-7 p.m. This will be the one day all year that fans are allowed to drive their personal cars on the same high-banked track that Gordon, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Tony Stewart and the rest of the NASCAR stars race on. Track rides will take place from 5-7 p.m. during the open house.

Fans interested in driving the track should purchase their NAPA 500 tickets, starting at just $30, at the open house to receive three laps around the high-banked track. Fans who have already purchased NAPA 500 tickets can buy tickets to the Sat., Oct. 26, Aaron's 312 Busch Series race; not only will they receive their three laps around the track, they will also get a free Georgia-Pacific Qualifying Night ticket. Fans who have already purchased a full weekend ticket package may make a $30 donation to the Speedway Children's Charities to receive their three laps around the track. Further one-day only ticket specials will be announced at the open house and will be good that day only.

Before the track rides begin, fans can walk around the Atlanta Motor Speedway infield and garage area, which will be open to the public for this special day. The garage area will be lined with showcars, simulators, games, food and other fun activities. Championship drivers from the 10-week summer series, Thursday Thunder, will also attend, as well as local ASA, late-model and ARCA drivers, and all will be available for autographs and photos.

There will be opportunities at this year's open house to win pit passes and merchandise autographed by some of NASCAR's top drivers, including Earnhardt Jr., Kevin Harvick and Bill Elliott. There will also be a souvenir blowout sale and an opportunity for fans to tour the track and have their photos taken in Victory Lane.

Track drivers can take their experience one step further by test driving a real Legends race car. For just $5 per lap, fans can see if they have what it takes to be a race car driver.

There will be activities for everyone at the second annual open house. Not only will there be test drives of race cars, giveaways of valuable merchandise and tours of these behind-the-scenes area, but fans can also scope out the view from their seats for the NEW NAPA 500 weekend and meet official AMS mascot Monkey Wrench.
