F'ville,
look at Atlanta woes; don't cram more into our city
Most of us have heard of the deplorable condition the city of Atlanta is in. Most of this is due to and was caused by their politicians and city leaders, not the people. Politicians, good and bad, are responsible; they both made the decisions that loaded their systems down with problems they have. Some bad politicians, and other city leaders, and people they appointed to certain positions, were caught in crooked deals that lined their pockets, stole funds entrusted to them. This would eventually hurt the taxpayers. They are $80 million in the hole. The people did not do this; city leaders did. The city of Atlanta is like a cancerous octopus, whose tentacles are reaching out to all surrounding areas to suck up all they can to support itself; sounds like GRTA. Fayetteville should avoid anything to do with them, if at all possible. I hope our people here in office will take a hard look, and not duplicate their kind of problems here: Over-zoning, cramming business where our homes are, town houses, and cheap apartments on small lots just for the dollar. They should make our town a place of fine homes, where people would have to wait in line to buy one, if necessary. A town of quality, as they keep saying we are. But won't be if they keep on like it seems they are going. People can support just so many business places. You overbuild, they close up. Look hard, elected officials, you can do better. One other thing I would like to add: If any person takes a car, when stopped by law enforcement officers, and tries to hurt them, or kill them, I hope they are instructed to shoot them on the spot. And any armed citizen who is attacked the same way will do the same. James Howell Fayetteville
