The skies above Peachtree City will be filled with aircraft, both new and old, as The Great Georgia Airshow returns to Falcon Field this Saturday and Sunday.

The theme of this year's show is "Wings of Rememberance" and will pay tribute to the men and women who fought valiantly to protect America's freedom. There will be military aircraft from World War II and Vietnam as well as displays from several aerial acrobatic teams and more.

Some of the WWII aircraft that will be on display will be a Douglas SBD bomber as well as a P-51 Mustang, Hawker Sea Fury, F4U Corsair and a Bell P-63 fighter. Visitors will get a chance to ride in World War II aircraft and there will be simulated WWII aerial attacks of Pearl Harbor with pyrotechnics. Former pilots and ground crew of the Tuskegee Airmen will also be on hand at the air show to greet visitors and share their experiences.

Visitors will also get a chance to see an aerial and ground re-enactment of military action in Vietnam presented by the Army Aviation Heritage Foundation. Other aircraft on hand will include an F-16 Fighting Falcon Viper Demonstration, a T-6 aerobatics performance, Seafury by David Peeler, Dan McClung and Buck Roetman's Red Eagle Air Show, Chris Smisson and www.airshowunlimited.com routines, Pat Epps Aerobatic Beechcraft Bonanza and The Flying Farmer. There will also be a restored Delta DC3 from 1940.

The Great Georgia Air Show does offer more than just aircraft though. There will be rock climbing, military band concerts, a Kid's Port featuring a number of children's activities, and lots of food and cold drinks. Local author Jerry Moore will also be at the air show on both Saturday and Sunday promoting his first novel "Weekend Warriors."

Advanced tickets are currently on sale at Kroger. They are $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 6-12. Tickets at the gate will be $12 for adults and $6 for children ages 6-12. All children under the age of six are admitted for free. Visitors are asked to park for free at Starr's Mill High School and take one of the continuously running shuttles. No coolers or backpacks will be allowed in the venue. Gates will open at 9 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday and the performances will begin at 1 p.m. For more information, phone 770-632-0365 or visit www.thegreatgeorgiaairshow.com.
