Cross country teams run at Berry, North Gwinnett

Many local schools sent their boys and girls cross country teams to the Berry/Darlington Meet at Berry College on Saturday. On the girls side of the meet Landmark Christian placed eighth in the A/AA event, Sandy Creek placed 14th in the AAA/AAAA event and McIntosh placed 13th while Fayette County placed 22nd in the AAAAA event. On the boys side, Landmark Christian placed second in the A/AA event, Sandy Creek placed 28th in the AAA/AAAA event and McIntosh placed eighth while Fayette County placed 22nd.

The top five runners for the Landmark girls were Kristina Eden, 17, 21:52; Emily Wood, 39, 23:05; Hope Hurst, 42, 23:11; Mary Michael Joiner, 50, 23:34 and Sarah King, 63 24:16. The top five runners for Sandy Creek's girls were Ashley Blackburn, 17, 21:24; Sara Harper, 47, 22:29; Stephanie Boettcher, 66, 22:56; Savannah Beebe, 156, 24:28 and Brie Harrington, 174, 25:04. The top five runners for McIntosh's Lady Chiefs were Melissa Anderson, 35, 22:04; Erica Hughey, 52, 22:26; Lindsey Murphy, 88, 23:38; Brittlynn Hall, 91, 23:41 and Sheena Sood, 99, 23:49. Fayette County's top five runners were Claire Bergstrom, 23, 21:35; Taylor Barnes, 81, 23:22; Kerry Magerl, 159, 25:46; Haleigh Breest, 160, 25:47 and Danielle Ashley, 161, 25:48.

The top five runners for the Landmark boys were Blake Fertita, 2, 16:26; Will Bonn, 5, 17:25; Joseph Register, 11, 17:36; James Register, 14, 17:43 and Robert Jones, 23, 18:04. Sandy Creek's top five runners were Andrew Henry, 99, 19:10; John Fields, 143, 19:48; Ben Ablett, 200, 20:31; Jason Stevens, 204, 20:36 and Matt Auers, 257, 21:31. The top five runners for McIntosh were Ben Brantly, 16, 17:20; Thomas Turner, 35, 17:51; A.J. Jensen, 40, 18:01; Ian Hardy, 67, 18:40 and John Powers, 76, 18:49. Fayette County's top five runners were Ryan Wolfe, 97, 19:06; David Dalton, 123, 19:28; Nathan Brandes, 132, 19:32; Eric Birdsong, 154, 19:57 and Andrew Kollmeyer, 158, 20:02.

Fayette County, McIntosh and Landmark will run in the Carrollton Invitational this weekend, while Starr's Mill runs in the Bulldog Stampede on the UGA golf course. The Sandy Creek Invitational will take place on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 9 a.m
