F'ville residents
seem to get no consideration from council intent on annexation
As I stated to Fayetteville City Council at their Sept. 5 meeting, "With the annexation policy council is following, I'm not sure how many more of their 'favors' the city of Fayetteville can afford to have 'bestowed' upon it." Council attempts to make their explanations for these annexations sound so "logical," "reasonable" and all in the name of progress. Council wants citizens to believe council is powerless to stop these actions even though they have the final authority to approve or reject annexation requests. Council states they are really doing citizens a favor by creating what will soon be some major traffic gridlocks. Remember this equation: Annexation equals high density equals more people equals more cars equals more traffic, and there is only Ga. Highway 85 and Jeff Davis Boulevard to handle all traffic through Fayetteville. It is obvious when attending zoning and council meetings there are only two groups that get consideration: Number 1, landowners, who request annexation and receive enormous prices for their land; and number 2, developers. Citizens that are most affected by their actions can protest but appear to get no consideration. Jerry Stoner Fayetteville
