Dance schools offer auditions for holiday shows
Fayette Ballet announces their 15th anniversary final call auditions for their production of "The Nutcracker." Auditions will take place at the School of Performing Arts, 102 North 85 Parkway in Fayetteville on Saturday, Sept. 7. Children ages 4-6 will audition from 1-2 p.m., boys and girls ages 7-12 will audition from 2-3 p.m. and intermediate and advanced jazz and ballet dancers ages 13 and up will audition from 3-4 p.m. In addition, teenagers and adults are needed for the First Act Party Scene. Auditions are open to all interested individuals in the Fayette County and surrounding areas. Dance schools are given credit for student participation. There is a $10 audition fee. Dancers desiring to audition for the Fayette Ballet Youth Ensemble (8-12) and the Fayette Ballet Performing Ensemble (13 and up) will be adjudicated at the time of Nutcracker auditions. Any dancer unable to attend final call auditions may telephone to set special audition times. Performances of "The Nutcracker" are scheduled for December in Fayetteville. For further information, phone 770-461-0976. Also on Saturday, Classical Dance Theatre holds auditions for their second annual holiday dance celebration. Dancers ages three to adult are welcome to participate. Auditions will be held at the Classical Dance Theatre's studios, 155 Bradford Square, Suite E, Fayetteville. Times are: 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. for children ages 3-8, 12:30-1:30 p.m. for ages 9 and up and 1:30-2:30 p.m. for ages 12 and up with at least two years of pointe training.
