Teachers' union blames America for Sept. 11

Dear teachers, we have recently become aware of the National Education Association's lesson plan for teaching the "Remember Sept. 11" program that is to be presented to our children nationwide on our national day of sorrow.

The NEA's plan for teaching our children to "blame America" is not only factually wrong but academically abusive to developing minds. I, for one, do not want my children indoctrinated by a group of people who have their interests placed above those of my children. The NEA doesn't even believe in free markets or competition (see their opposition to school choice and vouchers).

Tolerance is a good thing; however, tolerance does not mean avoiding truths or sticking your head in the ground. Academics are quick to avoid a conversation in order not to offend. Offending is our great American birthright; it's called free speech.

While I do not condone speech that spurs riots or causes panic (yelling fire in a crowded theater), I do condone speech that discusses facts, even if it does offend.

In that vein, it is factually clear that a group of Muslim extremists of Arab descent were totally to blame for attacking our country on Sept. 11. Additionally, these people still prove to be a threat to our freedom and culture.

Treating these people with kid gloves and blaming America for their gross interpretation of their "religion" serves no purpose other than giving comfort to those that would see our country and culture destroyed. Political correctness has no place in this discussion or any discussion that is debating facts.

In a recently taped interview with a Muslim cleric, it was flatly stated that the liberal, politically correct groups of the West represented the weakness in America that will allow the Islamic extremists to destroy our way of life. The NEA and other "hate America" liberal groups do not want to defend our way of life; they want to denigrate it.

Please, educators, teach "one plus one equals two," not "one plus one equals two, unless your are a 'protected group,' then it can equal anything you want." Students would be amazed to hear teachers teach instead of telling kids half-truths and opinions.

What would your misguided students say if you told them how much of the American taxpayers' hard-earned money is sent around the world to aid other countries without expectation of receiving any of it back? "Wow, really, we just give our money to help other countries? My teacher told me we were a greedy country."

Teachers, while you are preaching about the evils of slavery, remember to stress it was Americans who fought and died to end slavery. "You mean hundreds of thousands of white Americans died to free the slaves? You have got to be kidding me. I was taught [that white people of that time] were evil."

Tell your students how their country saved the world from socialist people who would have terminated the world as they presently know it. Additionally, impress upon them that it was America who rebuilt those wayward countries after soundly defeating these evildoers. "You are telling me the United States defeated half the world in a world war and then rebuilt it? Now that is unbelievable. That totally reflects those Judeo-Christian beliefs you talked about!" (Now that is something you will never hear a public school student say.)

The NEA believes America is evil. I do not agree. For the above stated reasons, my children will not go to their state-run school on Sept. 11; they will stay home and be told about proud Americans who fought and died to build the greatest country in the history of the world. God bless America!
