Many Christians
love gays while not accepting the gay lifestyle
I have no idea what [last week's guest columnist Jeff Ellis] and your family have gone through because of your son's sexual preference. I personally believe that many of us Christians miss the "mark" when it comes to a real understanding of God's direction in our lives. We are often (more times than not) judgmental, quick to anger and slow to forgive. All of this goes into the face of what Jesus has taught us to be. Our first problem is one that Christians and non-Christians alike face every single day: While forgiven, we are not perfect. Even though we are saved by the grace of God through Jesus Christ, we are still human beings and will always make mistakes, bad judgments and lost tempers. Your son has made a choice that is by our very nature offensive because God has instilled in us all a reasoning of what is wrong and what is right. We all often ignore these feelings when we do a wrong and over the course of time it becomes easier to ignore. That is the very nature of sin! I realize that your family must suffer quite a bit because of your son's choice, but thinking that every Christian hates the sinner and not the sin is absurd, to say the least. I assure you that there are those of us who may disagree with your son's lifestyle, but we still love him as well as your family as God demands us to do. I will not sit here and try to justify right and wrong in regards to homosexuality as God's word has already been written on the subject and it is very clear to those who are truly saved and open to his leading. We all, as humans, have a lot of growing up to do and, God willing, soon we will know perfection as it was meant to be. Let me say that though I have never met you or your family, I truly love you as God has asked me. Does that mean I accept your son's lifestyle? No! But I love him just the same and I can assure you there are many more who feel this way than you may ever believe. In closing, I do not know if The Citizen will print this or even forward it to you because of the very nature of journalism today. What I have said is the truth, as I believe God has taught me. Get into his word, pray daily and seek his own guidance and not your humanity and he will reveal his truth. John Nance john@wildfire-systems.com
