Signups for big league baseball through Aug. 24

Sign-ups are now being taken for 16,17,18 and 19 year olds for Big League Baseball in the South Metro Atlanta counties, including Fayette, Coweta and Henry.

Players must be 16 years old by July 31,2003 and can be no older than 19 on July 31, 2003. Teams formed will be traveling teams and will play in Fayette, Coweta and possibly other south metro counties. There will be a minimum of 12 games scheduled to begin Sept. 15 and run through the end of October. Games wil be double headers on Sundays at various locations. Players must provide their own transportation to and from practices and games. Last fall the league registered 11 teams and expects a similar turnout again this fall.

Registrations will be accpeted for both individuals and teams. Individuals signing up will be placed on teams with other players from their local high school or geographical area.

The Big League program just finished a successful spring and All Star season. The 12 local area teams participated in the spring and summer program and sent two All Star teams to the Big League state tournament in Peachtree City.
