Sandy Creek and McIntosh get wins before tournament

The softball teams at Sandy Creek and McIntosh High School added another win to their records this week as they head into the Sandy Creek Invitational Tournament to be held at Meade Field in Peachtree City this weekend. The Lady Patriots defeated Douglas County, 9-0 and the Lady Chiefs blanked Lovejoy, 6-0.

Terri Manthey pitched a one hitter for Sandy Creek, striking out 10 batters. The Lady Patriots got offensive production from nearly everyone on the team. Krystal McBride and Jessica Henson each drove in two runs while Amanda Lunsford, Bailey Byrom, Jena Bilyeu, Ashley Ward and Beth Jenkins each drove in one.

Jenna Gilbert got the win for McIntosh while Renae Clarke and Kelsey Dawson each drove in two runs. Alison Zelinski went three for four at the plate and had a stolen base. Clarke stole two bases and Dawson stole one.

The Lady Chiefs will face Chapel Hill at 4 p.m. today and Centennial at 7 p.m. this evening. Other teams playing in the tournament will include Starr's Mill, East Coweta, Newnan, Woodward Academy, Northgate and more.
