When Samaritans
go homeless, who will help needy?
Recently a letter was published stating the plight of the Fayette Samaritans. I understand the response in terms of donations has been extremely disappointing. People usually are very generous, as displayed by the Sept. 11 giving. However, Fayette County also has some very hurting and needy individuals and families. Without the Samaritans, in many cases there is no place to go for help. It would be a shame to let this community-oriented organization disband due to a lack of facilities. Judging from their desire of $10 per family from the county's 30,000 families, this would give them about $300,000 to purchase or build a permanent building. I have sent in my donation and implore each person in Fayette County to immediately respond to this pressing need. If the financial gifts are not provided and the Fayette Samaritans cease operations, who then will take on the responsibility of providing help to the needy in their time of desperation? Ardon W.
