High on the food chain

By F.C. FOODIE

Regular readers of this column know I'm not the biggest fan of chain restaurants. I do admit a fondness for Starbucks and the Atlanta Bread Company, but usually I stay as far away as possible from chain food.

There is one chain, though, in Fayetteville, that I frequent fairly often that rises above the rest of the sameness.

Malone's, located in the Fayetteville Towne Center shopping center, offers fairly good food at a reasonable price.

One of their best attributes as a restaurant is the variety of selections. Many restaurants try to do to many things good and end up doing none well.

Malone's offers very good burgers and sandwiches for the lunch crowd, and also offers a number of salads for the diet-conscious crowd.

The restaurant also offers a wide variety of seafood dishes, including buffalo shrimp and a delicious blackened tilapia sandwich.

One of my favorite dining choices at Malone's is the Sunday brunch. Servers set up brunch items in the bar area, and diners can enjoy items ranging from freshly-prepared omelettes to fresh fruit and waffles.

If you want a variety of food for a not-so-big price, beat a path to Malone's door.
