The two new elementary schools Sara Harp Minter Elementary on Ga. Hwy 85 South in Fayetteville, and Cleveland Elementary at 190 Lester Rd. in Fayetteville will open their doors to students for their inaugural school year Monday morning. Despite some circulating rumors, both facilities will be ready to go.

"Teachers have been moving in this week," said Melinda Berry-Dreisbach, public information specialist for the Fayette County School System. "The staff at Minter are frantically trying to get everything ready for the students and have already received some help from their neighbors."

According to Berry-Dreisbach, the Lisbon Baptist Church youth group and members of the First Baptist Church have helped teachers move into their classrooms this week.

Parents and students were able to get their first look at the new schools last night at open houses after the paper went to press.

"Everything that needs to be done will be done by Monday morning," assured Berry-Dreisbach. "Though there may be a few cosmetic things still to finish, the students will have their work space and play space ready for them on the first day of school."
