Family of crash victim: Declare chase moratorium

This is from the family of Chuck Vicha, who was murdered in the high-speed chase [July 27]. Today [Aug. 3] we buried our beloved Chuck. What a senseless way to die. He was a good and upstanding citizen of the community.

Are we, as the community, going to keep letting this happen to other innocent victims, ruining the lives of other families? We must work together to come up with a more viable answer than just going full tilt ahead and not really caring what gets in our way.

Until such a time comes that we can solve this problem, let's put a moratorium on high-speed chases, especially through highly congested areas.

She knew she was wrong, yet she fled police even with three children in the car. We do not want the children hurt, but she had no regard for their lives.

Instead, Chuck happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and his wonderful life was snuffed out. The family is devastated. His friends are heartsick. Everyone says he was such a gentle person.

She might spend some time behind bars, but he will never be back with his family who loved him so much and depended so greatly on him. Let's work together to try to solve this problem.
