Ever wanted to go back in time? Well, you don't need a DeLorean or a flux capacitor to see what a working town in Georgia looked like in the 1850s. Westville is a living history village where visitors get to see what the life and culture of a town in Georgia was like at that time, including architecture, landscape, clothing, crafts and cuisine.

Westville comes alive early in the morning as the people in the village must start their chores of the day. There are horses to be fed, food to be cooked and jobs to do. Interested visitors can watch the blacksmith work with his hammer and anvil, the potter throw clay, the seamstress work with needle and thread and the basket weaver work his magic while making baskets. There are over 27 historic buildings in the village.

Westville also features special events throughout the year. The first Sunday of every month from April to September features a vintage baseball game at 1:30 p.m. featuring authentic uniforms, equipment and field of play. Visitors are also invited to come and play for the Westville Biscuits. Other upcoming event include the Fiddlers Contest on Sept. 2, the Fair of 1850 which lasts from Oct. 10-Nov. 10, the Christmas workshop on Dec. 2 and Yuletide Season, which takes place Saturdays in December.

Westville is open Tuesday-Saturday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sundays from 1-5 p.m. It is located one mile from the town square in Lumpkin, Ga. For more information on Westville, phone 1-888-733-1850 or visit www.westville.org.
