The Atlanta Expo Center will be the site of the annual Atlanta Buckarama this weekend, the largest sportsmen's show in the southeast. Not only will there be hundreds of thrilling exhibits and big name speakers, but there will also be a number of chances to win some outstanding door prizes and see more record whitetails than ever before.

The world record whitetail, harvested by Milo Hanson, will be on display throughout the weekend. The Hanson buck was scored by Boone and Crockett at 213 5/8 points. Also on display will be Jeff Banks amazing 17-pointer harvested in Morgan County, Ga. on the first day of deer hunting season last year.

Visitors will also get a chance to see Rodney Kelly's North American Big Game collection, featuring deer, black bear, moose, mountain goat and elk, all in full mount display. There will be hunting-dog demonstrations, birds of prey, exciting trick shooting and archery shows and hourly seminars. Some of the topics covered this year will be bow hunting and muzzle loading.

Buckarama is also a great place for sportsmen to shop. There will be some incredible bargains on hunting equipment, clothing and everything one would need for the upcoming hunting season. Shoppers are encouraged to register for this year's selection of door prizes which will include Gunslinger deer stands, CVA blackpowder deer rifles, hunting trips, Realtree camo and more.

Another display at this year's Buckarama will be the deer head display which will showcase hundreds of deer heads from all over Georgia.

Buckarama is an educational fundraising event sponsored by the Georgia Wildlife Federation, Georgia's oldest and largest conservation organization and a state affiliate of the National Wildlife Federation. Since 1984 the money raised at the Buckaramas has helped support GWF's conservation education efforts.

The 2002 Atlanta Buckarama will take place at the Atlanta Expo center from 1-9 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 1, from 10 a.m.-9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 2 and 3 and form 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 4.
