Southside Seals presents Swimmer of the Year awards
The Southside Seals Masters swim team is proud to sponsor two annual awards to recognize outstanding accomplishments in swimming by members of the Fayette County swimming community. The 2002 winners of these awards will be honored at a ceremony Aug. 2 in Peachtree City. The Fayette County Swimmer Of The Year is awarded annually to the most outstanding male and female swimmers for the last swimming season. The award is open to swimmers that are residents of Fayette County or members of USS, high school, and recreation teams that are based in Fayette County. The selection of the outstanding swimmers of the year is based on the accomplishments of those swimmers in the pool, classroom, and community. The winners of the awards receive a plaque and their names are added to a master plaque displayed at the home pool of the Southside Seals. This year's recipients are Kenny Jubb and Jessica Betts. The Fayette County Swimming Hall Of Fame recognizes lifetime achievement by swimmers, coaches, and officials as residents of Fayette County or as members of a Fayette County based team. Members of the hall receive an award plaque and are listed on a plaque displayed at the home pool of the Southside Seals. No more that four individuals can be elected to the hall in any year. This year's inductees are Mr. Ralph McCrory and Mrs. Jean Satterthwaite Withnell. The awards ceremony will be on August 2 at 7 p.m. at the Kedron Aquatic Center. Members of the public are invited to attend this important event to honor outstanding athletic accomplishment.
