tennis center for Tom Farr
In my 19 years of living in Peachtree City, I can think of only a handful of people whom I would say were instrumental in giving us the exceptionally high quality of life we enjoy every day. Tom Farr was one of those people. He never, never asked anything for himself. His forte was to give. And give he did. It was his honor to serve his community. Whether on the [Peachtree City] Development Authority or on community events, he gave his all, and the results were always exemplary. His vocabulary did not contain the word, "No," when it came to helping his community. To a great extent, because of him, we enjoy one of the finest tennis venues in the region. His courage, his foresight, his leadership contributed immensely to making this nationally recognized facility a reality. I think such extraordinary service should be recognized. I call on the elected leadership of Peachtree City to step forward and do whatever it takes to change the name of the Peachtree City Tennis Center to the Thomas Farr Tennis Center of Peachtree City. I ask every business, church and community leader, every resident, please, let's set aside any differences we might have. Let's unite and give this man the recognition he deserves. I implore you to come together to write or e-mail [Mayor Steve Brown at sbrown@peachtree-city.org and] our elected leadership to convince them that this is appropriate recognition for the untiring efforts and excellence of a great citizen.
