Signs warning of lanes ending are sorely missed in PTC

I'm happy to see the traffic improvements at the intersection of Ga. highways 54 and 74 [in Peachtree City], but what about the traffic lights and signage?

When traveling south on Hwy. 74, the additional middle through lane has no traffic signal and no warning to drivers that the lane ends a short distance after crossing the intersection. A similar situation exists on the eastbound lane.

I have noticed what appears to be an increase in the number of accidents at this intersection since the changes were made.

I believe there is DOT regulation that requires a traffic signal for each lane. Therefore a driver ticketed for running the red light while in the lane with no traffic would have a very good defense for not paying the fine.

I believe the powers at be need to address this problem ASAP to prevent a tragedy at this very busy and dangerous intersection.
