Southside plan tabled again

It will be at least another month before the first step of the proposed Fayetteville southside master plan is recommended for approval by the city's Planning and Zoning Commission.

Depot rental fee up

If you're planning to host a function at the Depot in Fayetteville in the future, it's going to cost a bit more than it did in the past.

Bed-breakfast rules studied

Although there are no bed-and-breakfast establishments in Fayetteville at the present time, city officials are updating the portion of the city's zoning ordinance that regulates them in hopes that some historic home in the city might be considered for such a use in the future.

The metro area American Red Cross is issuing a plea for donors around the July 4th holiday, which is typically one of the worst times of the year for maintaining blood supplies.

Adopt-A-Park program still going strong

Twenty parks or tot lots have been adopted by a total of 28 residents, groups or organizations since the Peachtree City Adopt-A-Park program began in April 2000.

Grand Marshals selected for 4th of July parade

The Peachtree City Recreation Department has chosen to honor those individuals in the community who constantly put their lives on the line and help make up the country's homeland defense. Representatives from the Fire Department and the Police Department will serve as ambassadors and ride as Grand Marshals in the 4th of July parade.

The importance of freedom

Surely there must be new definitions for what freedom means in the hearts of all Americans this year. Actually, in just my lifetime, to date, there seems to have been an evolution of what freedom means. I suspect the founding fathers knew the definition would evolve.
