Depot rental fee up

If you're planning to host a function at the Depot in Fayetteville in the future, it's going to cost a bit more than it did in the past.

The Main Street staff and board recommended that the all-day rental fee be raised from $150 to $200, and that was approved by the City Council at its June 20 meeting. The new fee "will still be substantially lower than other rental facilities in the area," Main Street manager Nancy Price told the council, adding that parties who rent for an entire day often use the facility for up to 10 hours.

The current half-day rate of $100 will not change, and there is still a 50 percent discount for nonprofit groups and city employees.

The council also approved an ordinance that will levy excise fees on rental cars in the city, with the revenue generated to promote tourism.
