City Council renews deal with probation company By JOHN
MUNFORD
Behavioral Interventions, better known as BI, will continue doing probation services for Peachtree City's municipal court. Those services come at no cost to the city since all the operating fees are paid by probationers, who pay at least a $35 monthly supervision cost for the length of their probation. Fees are also charged to probationers for other services such as drug tests and electronic monitoring. The company's four-year contract was set to expire Monday, but the city decided to continue with BI under a new one-year contract that automatically renews unless notice is given to the company 30 days before the contract is to be renewed. The contract was approved unanimously by the City Council at its meeting last week. BI, formerly known as Community Corrections Corporation, also collects fines for the city, tallying an average of over $25,000 a month that is turned directly over to the city. BI also maintains an office in Peachtree City for the convenience of the city and its probationers. The city was so satisfied with BI's service that officials decided not to bid the service out to the lowest bidder, said City Clerk Jane Miller.
